  1. We can’t go back to business as usual. That just won’t work. So how do we  break through when breaking news never rests? Well, the name of our game has always been relevance. If you don’t stay relevant, if you don’t frame your messaging in a way that is relevant to others, you might as well whisper. Here are 3 ways to stay relevant in 2017.Up your social media game. If there was ever a time a brand needed to build a direct line of communication with customers, shareholders and employees, it is now. Use your platforms as a force for good. When it feels like the rest of the world is engaged in negative rhetoric and mud-slinging, positive messages can be disruptive.
  2. Use your platforms to build trust. Trust is currency you can cash in during a crisis. And you must prepare for crises. Consider this: there are currently 83 companies on the Grab Your Wallet boycott list. 83!
  3. Use your channels to listen. The speed at which messages are delivered and received, at which deals are made and perceptions shift, is dizzying. You need to monitor your brand and your reputation and listen to your constituents. Social media is an excellent way to do that.
