New year’s resolutions, set goal or business target for new year or beginning with work challenge concept, smart businessman holding big pencil thinking about new year’s resolution on notepad paper.

As we ring in the new year, we’re setting intentions that will shape our futures as PR professionals as well as our clients’ futures in the context of evolving trends, media landscapes, and consumer behavior.

Here are our top PR resolutions for the year ahead:

  • In-person events, activations, and coffee chats: While we continue working remotely, we’re prioritizing face-to-face interactions in 2025. Whether by inviting media to coffee, signing up for local industry events, or planning IRL events with our clients, we’re excited to get back into the swing of face-to-face networking and experiences. In an industry backed by relationships, we believe nurturing our connections in person will be pivotal this year.
  • Personalized and targeted outreach: We’re doubling down on tailored communication. We’re subscribing to journalists’ substacks and newsletters and SOS media queries. We’re in the habit of searching “#journorequest” and “#prrequest” on X. We’re conducting competitive monitoring on a daily basis. These practices help us meet journalists where they are and send timely, reactive pitches in addition to our regular proactive pitches.
  • Expanded media horizons: Consumers continue to explore new and evolving media sources for news, entertainment, and product recommendations. We also recognize the impact of influencers and have found success integrating niche, micro-influencers into our media outreach strategy. Traditional media remains an important part of our outreach, and at the same time, we’re keeping up with emerging and trending social media platforms to meet our clients’ audiences where they are. We’re also using social media to make new connections with the media. According to Cision’s 2024 State of the Media Report, 97% of journalists use social media for work-related purposes. Instagram is a top platform, followed by LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Trends backed by data: According to Cision’s 2024 State of the Media Report, 61% of journalists say original research reports (including trends and market data) are among their most-wanted content to receive from PR professionals. We’re always keeping a pulse on emerging trends – it’s what we do – and working with our clients to pull meaningful data strengthens our media conversations.

At Double Forte, we’re not just observing these industry changes – we’re actively participating in and shaping them. Need assistance developing an effective PR strategy? Drop us a line.
